Relocation Donation Drive

SACRAMENTO: As most members have heard by now, Viewpoint will be moving to a new location in the downtown area by June 1, 2008. SAMCC, our host for the last 13 years, needs to expand into our current gallery space. We, too, need room to expand; we outgrew our tiny office and limited storage years ago. As outlined in the latest newsletter, finding a new home for Viewpoint presents an exciting opportunity and marks a major milestone in the evolution of Viewpoint. Relocation also poses some challenges -- including financial challenges.
A committee of the Board of Directors is researching potential sites and the Board hopes to agree on a new location by early January 2008. There will be lots of work required to turn the new space into a home for Viewpoint and our broad range of programs: world-class exhibitions, educational outreach, field trips, workshops, presentations by guest speakers, print night, and more. One of the goals we have set is to raise $60,000 to cover the one-time costs to turn any new space into a gallery we can all be proud of. Members met on December 1 to brainstorm fundraising ideas needed to meet this challenge. As a result, a mix of fundraising goals was established, consisting of grants, sponsorships, and donation drives to augment our established fundraising activities such as the Annual Fine Print Auction and Fine Print Program.
Relocation Donation Drive
Viewpoint announced a Relocation Donation Drive with the goal of raising $15,000 from our members during the remaining weeks of this year. Viewpoint President, George Aiello, sent a communication asking all members to help meet this exciting challenge by taking advantage of a tax-deductible year-end contribution to Viewpoint. Donations will be designated for the Viewpoint relocation fund and will help pay for improvements, lighting, furniture, new portfolio drawers -- everything needed to make the new gallery a reality. All donors will be acknowledged in the Viewpoint newsletter, on the web site, and at the grand opening celebration in June.
Your generous donation will truly help write the next chapter in Viewpoint's exciting history. I'm sure you will take great pride when you attend the grand opening, knowing that you have not only helped make the new facility a reality, but also helped assure the continuation of the many benefits that Viewpoint provides to its membership and the community.
