Creating Custom Note Cards and Calendars

Registration is closed for this event
In this workshop you will learn how to create professional quality, custom note cards and calendars using Photoshop, Excel and various programs from the Internet. You do not need to bring a computer. Just bring yourself.

Finding creative ways to display and sell your images can be challenging at any time.  It is especially true in this economy.

Note cards and calendars offer an affordable opportunity for those who appreciate your art to own one or more of your images.  They are an excellent way to keep your photographic art in front of people all year long.  Offering note cards and calendars for sale during your exhibits generates additional income.  And with the holidays fast approaching, they make unique and appreciated gifts.

Judy Yemma will lead off with a demonstration on creating custom note cards using Photoshop.  You will learn about card stock, formatting, printing card images, presentation, pricing and supply sources.  The workshop will take you step-by-step through the process.  A handout will be given to participants detailing all the information presented in the workshop.

Michael Corlew will follow with a Calendar 101 presentation on creating custom photo calendars.  He will take you through the steps involved in choosing and formatting the layout of your calendar, inserting your images into the layout, and printing the final product.  He will bring examples of his calendars for you to review.  He will also provide a list of resources.

By the end of the session, you will have all the information you need to produce custom calendars.

Don't miss this time-sensitive workshop.  Register today!

Your instructors:

Judy Yemma - My interest in photography began when I was given a Girl Scout Brownie camera as a young girl.  From then on, photography became a way for me to capture the moment, the emotion, and the beauty of a subject and make it mine. This interest became more serious while I attended San Francisco State University, where I earned a degree in Fine Arts.  Life required that I put my art on hold while I pursued a career in Commercial Real Estate, but I never stopped “seeing” with my camera. After leaving the corporate world and relocating to the Sacramento area from the San Francisco Bay Area, I investigated Sierra College’s Photography Department and there rekindled my interest in the photographic arts.  Photography is a way for me to speak artistically – to offer new views of “ordinary” objects or places.  In truth, there is nothing “ordinary” about anything if one opens their eyes to the world.

Michael F. Corlew - I have always enjoyed taking pictures, from the Kodak Brownie that I had in grade school to the new digital cameras of today. During the late seventies and through the eighties, you could find me flying hot air balloons--always with a camera or two at my side.  (My images have been published in the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival calendars numerous times.) I was introduced to digital cameras in the 1990's through my work.  After retirement, I have had time to renew my long-time passion for photography.   I have now turned to newer equipment--Canon Digital SLR cameras, image stabilized lenses, and a Canon iPF 5100 printer.

I am able to combine photography with my love of travel and bird and animal watching, in which I now have more time to indulge.  The main focus of my photography is wildlife, but I do take a few landscapes.

My images are available at Appel Gallery and Viewpoint Photographic Art Center.I am a member of North America Nature Photographic Association, National Association of Photoshop Professionals, Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Viewpoint Photographic Art Center, Folsom Art Association and Gold Rush Chapter-Photographic Society of America.
