John will demonstrate how he photographs the streets by showing some of his work.
Additionally, he will explain—in detail—how he configures his camera and the preparations he makes to attain a specific shot. He will give specific tips on how to photograph during different times of day, weather, and locations (e.g., how a different approach is needed when photographing in downtown San Francisco vs downtown Sacramento).
Participants will also be joining John for hands-on practice photographing the streets of Midtown Sacramento.
John G. Hernandez is a seasoned Viewpoint instructor who also teaches street photography each year. His classes are very popular with students because John carefully explains his professional techniques and enjoys working with students. He works as a photographer full time--jobs include: professional senior high school portrait photographer, a freelance photojournalist, and wedding photographer based in Sacramento. He received his degree in photojournalism at San Francisco State University in 2009. If not photographing for work, he spends his time doing his favorite hobby – capturing images of people both in the studio and on the street.
