Peru: Land of the Sun - July 9 through July 22, 2015
Nazca Option - July 22 through July 25, 2015
After a day in Peru’s capital city, Lima, we fly to the UNESCO Heritage site and pre-colonial Andean gateway city of Cusco where we photograph old-world Quechuan villages, markets, farming communities and Incan ruins of the Sacred Valley. Located in a remote high Andean village we will then document throngs of jubilant devotees as they celebrate the patron saint of the mestizo people at the raucous Virgen del Carmen festival. The workshop highlight will be two days photographing one of the Seven Wonders of the World and renowned UNESCO site – the remote ancient citadel of Machu Picchu. After a short flight to Puno, we will discover the fascinating pre-Incan floating islands, architecture and weaver’s markets of Lake Titicaca – considered the world’s highest navigable lake. We then return to Lima for a farewell dinner and our return flight home, or you may opt to head south to photograph yet another UNESCO world heritage site: a fly-over to view the enigmatic geoglyphs of the Nazca plateau.
This totally immersive experience is designed to provide ample opportunity for independent photographic exploration, individualized instruction, image sharing and quiet introspection. This price conscious and flexible tour offers safe and comfortable accommodations and is open to all skill levels.
Participating photographers will be encouraged to share their final work during a group exhibition at Viewpoint’s Step-up Gallery
