We’ll begin with a look at how to determine which selection tool (or a combination of tools and methods) is right for a particular job. Then we’ll cover ways to modify and fine tune selections so they’re as good as possible. From selections we’ll venture into the world of alpha channels and layer masks, which can be used for everything from applying tonal adjustments, to creating intricate composites from multiple image sources.
From selections and masks we move on to explore layers, blend modes and combining image elements for a variety of purposes, from commercial uses to fine art composites.
Note: This introductory course will be taught using Photoshop CC, but it also applies to earlier versions of Photoshop. Additionally, all of the concepts, and many of the techniques in this class are applicable to Adobe Photoshop Elements. If participants wish to follow along, they can bring a laptop and class images will be supplied. Handout materials will feature documentation of all the techniques shown in the class.
