Night Photography and Light Painting at the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest

Registration is closed for this event
Some of the most exciting images are taken at night. Joe Fischer will show you how to combine night photography with light painting so you can capture the heavens with unique items of interest.

This workshop will take place at the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest located near Bishop, California. You’ll receive instruction and learn how to set up a composition before nightfall. Then we’ll create images of the Milky Way Galaxy while light painting the ancient trees at night. In this workshop you’ll learn how to:

• Use the night sky to create astonishing images
• Plan your shots with software so you can save time and pre-plan shots
• Adjust the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO for night shooting
• Focus the lens in darkness
• Combine light painting with a night sky composition so you can capture the beauty of both elements
• Use an intervalometer or manually create star trails
• Work with a PixelStick to create one-of-a-kind night images

Participants can make their own hotel reservation, most likely in the town of Big Pine, or they can camp for free at the Grand View Campground near the shooting location.  Please let me know your preference so I can do my best to save enough campsites, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis

Required Equipment

• Tripod:  You must have a tripod in order to do this type of shooting
• Camera:  DSLR or camera than can be used with full manual settings
• Lens:  35mm or wider and ƒ2.8 is preferred.
