For this workshop, each participant will provide an image that will be processed during the workshop by the instructor, using Lightroom, Photoshop and third party plug-ins. Techniques for achieving the photographer’s vision will be discussed and applied to each of the images submitted by the workshop participants with the intent of bringing out the very best qualities of each image. Particular attention will be paid to identifying methods that will isolate the processing effects to only those areas of the image needing adjustment
As part of the workshop, each participant will receive an 8.5”x11” copy of their original print and a 13”x19” copy of the image after application of the techniques. In addition, a copy of the adjusted image will be provided to each attendee who brings a storage device (such as a “thumb” drive) for transfer of the electronic image from the instructor’s laptop. The image, as processed by the workshop attended must be submitted to the instructor prior to the workshop so that the letter-sized print can be printed before the date of the workshop. The original RAW image must be brought to the workshop to all the instructor maximum flexibility in processing the image. Instructions for doing so will be provided to each attendee upon enrollment.
This full-day workshop is limited to 12 lucky attendees. Register Now!
Your Instructor: David L. Robertson
I have been interested in photography since college, where I learned how to develop my own negatives and to print black and white images. My photographs tend to reflect strong graphical elements and simplicity; regardless of subject matter. They have been described by NYC photographer and friend—Jay Maisel—as reflecting solitude, without loneliness. I have previously taught more than a dozen workshops on Lightroom, Photoshop, printing and B&W conversion at Viewpoint and at various photography groups in the Sacramento region. I have been a Lightroom instructor for the Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures in New Mexico, Maine, California and Colorado. I have also had several solo and group exhibits of my photographs, including a solo exhibit at the Pence Gallery in Davis (January 2008), a group exhibit at Viewpoint (May 2009), and a two-person exhibit in Roseville (May 2010). I have also had a two-person exhibit at the Grants Pass Museum of Art in Oregon (October 2011).
