This full day workshop will help you to take full advantage of the power of On1 Photo Raw 2018. Using a combination of presentation and hands-on work you will learn how to use its wide array of advanced features. The Aiellos will cover how to use the tools, brushes, presets, HDR, Panos, and effects following an easy to understand workflow. Special emphasis will be placed on the application's powerful masking tools and filter stacking features. Many tips and shortcuts will also be provided along with sample files to work from.
The entire workshop is presented from the perspective of artistic expression. So if you have been wondering about On1 Photo Raw 2018 and are ready to take your photography to the next level this workshop is for you.
WORKSHOP BOOKLET AND FILES
Participants will be provided with a printed booklet and a thumb drive with files covering many of the exercises used in the class. You can use these materials during the class to follow along as well as later as a reference resource and training guide from home.
WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS
The Aiellos will be providing the hand-outs outlined above but you may want to bring a paper notebook to make your own notes along the way. While not necessary, you are also welcome to bring a laptop or computer to actually follow along in several of the exercises. Participants will be sent additional information prior to the class.
A Viewpoint first, the Aiellos are developing, and will be including, an exclusive online version for attendees. They will be there for the long term to help you master the tools and techniques presented during the live classroom sessions. When released, this voluntary online version will include many video tutorials and PDFs covering all aspects of On1 Photo Raw. In addition, you will be able to take part in online group discussions, upload examples of your own work, and participate in instructor reviews and follow-up.
WHAT IS ON1 PHOTO RAW 2018?
On1 has been around since 2005. You may have heard about them and may even have one of their applications. Now, they have released "On1 Photo Raw 2018" and it is generating a lot of news and buzz. But what is it? On1 Photo Raw is an integrated tool that includes accelerated photo management, precise photo development, hundreds of customizable photo effects, fast and beautiful HDR, pano stitching, masking and blending adjustments, layers, and much more. You can use it as a stand-alone application or incorporate it into your Lightroom and/or Photoshop workflows as a plug-in significantly expanding the features of those applications.

This workshop is the second in Viewpoint's new and innovative "On1 Photo Raw Artistry Workshop Series", designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of On1 Photo Raw 2018 from beginner to expert level. But this series is much more than a bunch of "how-tos". It is designed around artistry. So while you learn how to take advantage of the software, its many tools and features, the context will focus on how to use the technology to achieve your artistic vision. In this way we will be discussing artistry together with craftmanship.

Your Instructors: Jo Ann & George Aiello
The Aiellos began their photographic careers in 1974. During the '80s and '90s they operated a successfull architectural photography business in the S.F. Bay Area. The goal of all of their workshops is to assist each student to learn tools, concepts, techniques, and more. Regardless of the technical instruction, the primary focus of all their workshops is artistry. Whether it be about software, equipment, or photographing on location instruction is always geared to assisting each student achieve their artist goals. They have been using On1 for the last several years. Both Jo Ann and George believe in helping others explore the possibilities of creative expression which they do through workshops and online resources. The Aiellos were recently interviewed by Exhibitions Without Walls and have begun Aiello Studios Photographic Expeditions to bring photographers together at locations around the West to photograph, and share their work and experiences.
Both are long time Viewpoint volunteers. George is a past president of Viewpoint and currently serves on the Board of Directors. He is also the Viewpoint webmaster. Jo Ann is the webmaster for Viewpoint's Photo Month Sacramento.
