I found this prickly mound in a botanical garden in San Jose del Cabo, Baja California. The commanding forms, and the soft sunlight worked. Everything was just right, except for the roof of the gardening shedpoking up behind the mound on one side. Years ago, I would have rejected the image due to this nagging flaw in composition. Post processing in Photoshop, I was able to correct the problem by layering over some sky. While the image may nor represent exactly what was there- that's not my point. What I captured was the pure essence of my fascination.
