Ed Asmus: Portraits From Another World

Exhibit Dates:
Tuesday, Jan. 5 to Saturday, Feb. 6

Ethiopia, home of the oldest humanoid fossil #AL-288, aka "Lucy", is known as the "Cradle of Mankind". Ed Asmus' adventurous journey to the Omo Valley in southwestern Ethiopia included an armed bodyguard, a Land Cruiser stuck in the mud, and a rapid departure from one village due to tribal conflicts.

Despite the difficulties, Asmus returned to Sacramento with stunning images of members of the Surma, Hamer, and Nyangatom tribes. The large sizes of the black-and-white prints add to the gallery experience as the viewer stands face to face with the people Asmus encountered.
