Member Frank Francis will talk about the good fortune of receiving access into homes in very remote villages. In the homes darkness prevails, the only natural light is used from small windows and doors. Portraiture under these conditions is difficult but can be dramatic. The other part of his talk describes the use of a small boat on numerous solo trips (with guide and crew) visiting villages almost untouched on the rivers of Assam India, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Along the rivers one experiences memorable beauty in the daily tasks of people enhanced by the subtle light from the water and the sky. Some of the river pictures are now on display in the Step Up Gallery at Viewpoint.
