As a part of its Student Program, each year Viewpoint devotes the Step Up Gallery to an exhibition of work by photography students. The exhibit and entry/selection process is an integral part of Viewpoint's Student Program. The work submitted is exciting and blooming with possibilities. The Viewpoint Student Program was created to provide students with an educational resource that gives them valuable industry information, feedback, and support in a semi-professional environment. Viewpoint is offering a program to help high school and college students grow and build their art, meet other students in their chosen field of study who share their interests, and join a thriving organization dedicated to the photographic arts.
The photographic work for the exhibit Boundaries comes from of 26 students (30 images). Over 130 students submitted 220 images in this highly competitive entry process. Students participating in the open call competition hailed from four high schools, six community colleges and four universities including: Los Angeles, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, and Sonoma counties. The following schools have students who have been accepted to the show: CSU Sacramento; American River College, Cosumnes River College, Sacramento City College; Sierra College; Solano Community College; Inderkum High School and R. McNair High School. Cash prizes will go to first, second and third place winners and there will be three honorable mentions. The winners will be announced at the special fundraising reception at Viewpoint on April 12th.
